The Department of Bengali is the oldest department of the faculty of Humanities & Social Science. It started functioning at the inception of the University in February 2, 1991. Founding Chairman Dr. P.M. Shafiqul Islam is a reputed Professor.

Powers and Functions of the Chairman

• The Chairman shall have the responsibility to plan and co-ordinate the work of the Department.
